This year it’s the Hall’s turn to crop the Common.
For those who don’t know, the Common is a small paddock in the centre of town that was originally a public paddock for everyone to graze their milking cows or other stock. Lately over the last few years it’s been home to some beautiful old mares.
But this year the old mares were moved out and the machinery moved in. To help pay for the Hall’s expensive insurance (among other things) the Common was dug up and planted by the Hall Association’s President (Thankyou K.S.)
Currently the first leaves are starting to poke their way out of the ground giving hope that the Common crop hasn’t suffered the losses other crops have from the mouse plague experienced in the area over the last few months.
There’s a few months to go, but so far so good.
